That's not my problem. The film I'm working with is old, and the documents on them are between 350 and 400 years old. I'm having difficulty deciphering them. I'm thinking it might be easier for me to read the documents directly. I'm going to talk to my adviser first.

Older film has issues. Depending on how much you need, a digitization request may not be uncalled for.
