1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Snorkeled. Climbed a mountain higher than 4000 feet. Visited Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I make resolutions every year. The results are always a mixed bag.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
Bahamas, Turks and Caicos.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
More free time to do nothing in particular.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No one date stands out. Although there is a three day stretch in July that turned out to be pretty important. :-)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I survived my first year of grad school. And "survived" is the right term.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Nothing is leaping to mind, so I must have had a pretty good year. :-)
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Lyme Disease. I don't recommend anyone try it.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
On the last day of the year, we got a shiny new baby-mobile, a 2011 Honda Odyssey.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My family had a pretty good year, Ian in particular. His year was rough in a lot of ways, but he handled himself with grace and good humor. Anyone would be doing well to handle stress and challenges half as well as he did.
13. Whose behaviour made you depressed?
Our former roommates downstairs.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Family stuff. The car and our vacation foremost among them.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
TBC, the cruise, the Raspberry.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
I'm On a Boat!
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, by a lot.
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Hiking and mountain climbing. Reading for pleasure.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Traveling to crappy Pride Events to promote TBC. Some of them just weren't worth our time.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nope.
22. How many one-night stands?
Zero. I don't do one-night stands, not since I was a kid in college the first time.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
I'm going to list my favorites from 2010: Top Chef, Project Runway, South Park, True Blood, So You Think You Can Dance, Glee.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.
25. What was the best book you read?
The Blind Side was pretty damn good. So was Changes, the Harry Dresden novel of 2010, and Side Jobs, the Dresden short story collection.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Not applicable.
27. What did you want and get?
A great TBC, and a pregnant girlfriend. :-)
28. What did you want and not get?
More free time.
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Thirty nine this year. I don't recall anything specific. We spent that weekend going to Mystic and Michy's parent's boat.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Hard to imagine one thing could have that effect. Last year was that good for us.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I should get one of those...
33. What kept you sane?
My family.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Top Ten, in no particular order: Amy Adams, Felicia Day, Zooey Deschanel, Tricia Helfer, Katy Perry, Padme Lakshmi, Anna Panquin, Emma Watson, Christina Hendricks, Grace Park.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Transgender Rights. GLBT Civil Rights in general.
36. Who did you miss?
No one leaps to mind. I try to spend time with my friends and family regularly.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Crystal, Steve and Alan, although technically I "knew" them before 2010, this year we actually began a friendship.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010
Illness can only slow you down, it can't stop you unless you let it.
